a sunset

a sunset

a quick sunset. tallahassee, florida.

I saw this out of my bedroom window and I ran to my camera and took the picture. I really did not want the hotel to be in it but ooooh here in Florida the sunset is *so* quick to vanish, that I have to Run to get an image. I took this image then i nearly ran up five flights of stairs only to see that I was up there too too late!

"up North", mu hometown at latitude 42 degrees, a sunset lasts "forever". Not here. Get It Now, This Instant, or Else Miss It!

hail on the ground. tallahassee, florida.

from the storm at the link, below. very very unusual for tallahassee to have hail, but springtime would be the best time to see hail.

just an ordinary subtropical photo

just an ordinary subtropical photo

evening in the early spring semi-tropics. Fall and spring shake hands here, why just yesterday I saw a tree with its last year leaves, having new spring leaves come out.
Tallahassee, florida. Spring begins in febuary and lasts until May.

Taken late in the evening, this is why the light is dim. Got to be Quick, here, to take a photo just near dusk, darkness will arrive within minutes!

a nice afternoon

a wonderful afternoon here in Tallahassee, florida, usa. about 5 PM and rain had fallen and now the sun is out.
18th of February, here in the semi-tropics.

Spanish Moss and live oak trees along an old street. many visitors here only travel the busy six-lane streets lined with shops and eye-pollution. they do not see these hidden places. Tis only 200 foot from my bedroom.

some repressions should stay repressions!

today at the eldercare lunch, where I help serve, in my senior home, I talked to the social work leader, of the eldercare lunch. she was lamenting over a certain man who moved here last year. a very depressed "crusty" army officer who is always depressed and not social, a "big ice cube"! she told me that she had long talks with him, over the last couple of months, and that he was thawing a bit and becoming warmer.
suddenly he bought a townhouse and moved out quickly to live alone!
So as i talked with her , i Realized.....realized that it was this talking with her that drove him out!! a thawing block of Ice will reveal all of the contents within!

as certain repressed things began to emerge, he could not deal with them so he moved in order to refreeze the ice cube! This is probably why that ice cube exists, to begin with!
"but he says he is in counseling" she says!
"no"!, I say, probably he is in counseling for only an hour a week or so, what he might really need is a live-in person and both spend 8 hours a day for months and months and months sharing that series of Pains, and the "counselor" had better be able to handle Deep Pain!
in a sense it probably is better just to let him live out his ten more years.

Moral: do not open a sealed box, or help another open their Sealed box, unless you can deal with the Contents of the box and to be able to help that person deal with it too!
maybe there are things that should be Sealed for Life!

the two Evil Brothers

have you all met the two "Evil Brothers", yet?

yes you have!

first one is, "Cutting back on services".
second brother is, "cheaping everything to death"!

these two are slowly reducing our lives to bite sized candy bars, thin toilet paper, and the like, as well as having no saturday mail soon and little social services.

who would pay $4 a roll for toilet paper?
$10 for a loaf of bread?
$200 for a particle board bookcase?
That *huge* tax increase to keep our social services afloat?

Soon, $80,000 a year will be the Poverty entry line.

many of the Young liberal left embrace socialism and you might see why!
"down with the evil big companies", they say.
they forget, though, that it is GREED that is the enemy!  Greed exists in socialism too.

probably the only solution is to have a society where everyone's greatest happiness is in trying to make all those people around them happier than they are!!
---at least try to put the Customer first.
the Church once called "usery" a sin!   "usery" is in making a profit!
